Ultima VI: Enhanced Edition is an unofficial fan project by Conrado Kamakura that presents Ultima VI: The False Prophet in new ways. It aims to keep the original game’s world, story, progression and rules intact. Built in the Godot engine, it also incorporates a fork of Nuvie, the open-source Ultima VI engine, to run the original game files, music and sound.
Ultima VI: Enhanced Edition began as an experiment in first-person exploration and now offers four camera options: first-person, isometric, top-down, and an oblique view inspired by the original game. It also has three visual styles, which can be chosen independently of the camera. Classic adapts the original art to the new perspectives, Classic+ adds character artwork based on the character portraits, and Modern uses more detailed pixel-art sprites and materials; town residents have their own artwork, along with companions and castle characters, each modelled on their original portrait. The original creature and animal sprites have been reworked as upright figures with clearer silhouettes.

The original world and dungeon maps from Ultima 6 are presented entirely in 3D. Enhanced Edition adds terrain relief, paths and riverbanks, revised buildings, furniture, doors and roofs, and optional vegetation. Conversations keep the original portraits, keywords and text entry. There is a visual backpack with drag-and-drop items and equipment, and each party member can be controlled directly. Quality-of-life options include grid or free movement, remappable controls, parchment-style windows, and interface text in English and Brazilian Portuguese, though campaign dialogue remains in English. Systems already adapted include doors, containers, light sources, keys and tools, castle mechanisms, dungeon transitions, Orb of the Moons travel, raft navigation, initial combat and consumables, and manual saves with autosaves at some transitions. Its developer, who is not a programmer, is using AI tools to help build it.
As of November 2026, Ultima VI: Enhanced Edition is in local alpha development, with no public download. Magic and other original systems are still being adapted, and neither the full campaign nor performance across the whole world has been tested yet. It will require the original Ultima VI game data.
