Another Dungeon Siege-based remake, the Ultima 6 Project was formed in 2001 by Sliding Dragon to develop a remake of Ultima 6: The False Prophet, with newer graphics and a more immersive engine. Under the name Archon, the team members — who hailed from all over the globe — set about re-creating the world of Britannia, adding an enhanced storyline to bolster intra-series continuity.

The project was released in 2011 to generally positive reviews, though not without a number of bugs. A patch was released to address some of the more problematic issues in the mod, after which the project fell silent for a spell before releasing the public beta for version 1.1 — a comprehensive update — in November of 2012, after a lengthy private beta earlier in the year.

The final version 1.1 release was subsequently released in both English and French (with a German translation added later). Among its features are a new moongate system, quest improvements, interesting new areas to explore, and significant improvements to both the world map and the dungeon mapping system.

A number of mods are available for the Ultima 6 Project. While they have not yet been added to this project entry, they can be found for download at Sylore’s website. In particular, you may wish to consider installing Tribun Dragon’s portraits mod, samples from which can be seen at the Project Britannia forums.

    THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME!

There are direct links to the files on the server at TheHawk’s site. You can also get them here (see links above, I just tried them and they work), and at Sylore’s Compendium of Random Knowledge (http://www.sylore.com/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,40/func,select/id,9/)

I also highly recommend Tribun’s Portrait Mod, which supplies 49 of the missing portraits and which is linked above.

Classic Johnny Come Lately (not even sure if this comment will even be viewed)… but I only just learned of this project and am enthusiastic to try it. I saw [on the main page] that version 1.1 will work on a Mac. Did I read that correctly? I downloaded the 1 GB archive and extracted the files – all it contains is a setup.exe file (for a PC, not Mac). Is there a .dmg package available or are you running some sort of emulator to make this work on a Mac? Please advise!

    • WtF Dragon says:

I’m honestly not sure. I think WINE should support Dungeon Siege, so that might be one option. Or you may just be able to extract the EXE manually, and pull the mod files out of it. It’s been a while since I’ve tried this on a Mac.

      • Scott says:

Ahh… I didn’t even think of that to be honest with you. I’m not as savvy on my Mac, but it has become my daily machine Thanks for the reply. I will try WINE when I get some time (the classic struggle between work, fun, wife, kids, yard work, etc.).

        Cheers!

  4. So, tried to go to Sylores, and it dropped me on the front end of some porn site…

    • WtF Dragon says:

That is…unfortunate. Though not entirely surprising. A lot of the old sites have gone offline or had their domain names poached.

      What were you looking for?

  5. Jörg says:

Hallo, I wanted to download “The Ultima 6 Project German Patch v1.0”, but the link is down. If you were so nice to fix it?

    Thank You

  6. WtF Dragon says:

Yeah, I can rebuild the link tonight.

  7. Jörg says:

    Thank you, it works!
